My Blog Problem is not over yet

I was outstation for 2 days and had not access to internet. when I came home on 19-May, I check my Adsense performance as usual and noted it was less than $2 . I suspected something about my SWOT blog. After analyse the Adsense traffic, the impression for my SWOT blog was almost zero. Realized something really wrong and I did a google search on my blog and could not find it on page #1 as it used to be there. I scroll down to next page and next and found it in Page #4.

What happen ? After in Page #1 for almost a year, why certainly drop to page#4. I have no clue to it so I did a more detail analysis and found my blog has a google index page of 950 and big jump from 300 before. Now I smell something already. Google has penalized my blog that could be in suspected of spamming due to so many pages being indexed.

To be honest, I did not engaged with any form of spamming or link exchange with this blog. The I analysis the index pages further and noted it was mostly language translation pages. Now I know why… so I quickly deactivate my language translator plugin and hope it come back up again..

Even if it was due to this problem, google may not believe I was not trying to spam . OMG … That is the threats you will get from google if you rely on their traffic. But if I knew it earlier, then it can be avoided ( being penalized )

Positive Mind Leads to Positive Actions

Something interesting to share !

I send my car for regular service at the Shell Station near my home in USJ. Since it would take a couple of hours, I decided to take my breakfast at nearby cafe. After I have a bowl of curry mee and a cup of Teh, I sit around to browse through my emails as well as facebook.

It was quite quiet and peaceful until a group of people sit next to me table. Since after they arrived, the whole sitting areas left nobody voice by one of them. This lady aged around early 30′s has an interesting conversation with the other 3 friends. They sound like working in a trading company because they talk about deliveries to Mydin, etc. I could not concentrate to my work as her voice is so loud and shape. She kept complaining about her colleague which join her department not long ago. She complained how she performed poorly and so on… and so on.. So, he friends join the conversation and started to give their point of view.

I think this type of conversation are common is a cafe but the most interesting part is that this lady use spoke Cantonese with all sort of 1 letter word x … 2 letter word x@…. and 3 letter word x@c and she did it so naturally. Even I sat beside the table could not get used to it ( although I have worked as a construction worker before )

Put aside the way she spoke and the language she used, my point is since she kept complaining about others, don’t you think it form a deep impression in her and may influence how she think about the colleague when she go back to office?

Throughout my working career, I attended many training and leadership development courses. One of the common characteristic we were taught was be positive. And lately there are people who share the “Law of Attraction” which evocate the believes that the more you talk about positive topics or events, the more positive and enthusiastic you become and it hold true the other way round.

Do an experiment yourself, the next time you go to a mall and look for a parking space, think very positive that you will get a slot or someone is about to leave. There is high chance that you get a parking space… Believe it or not

Well…. be positive to everything you do and you will achieve what you want !! Positive Mind Leads to Positive Actions and hence Positive Results

Latest SCAM in facebook

Dear Friends,

One of my Facebook friend send me a message on my wall and thanks me for sending him a sexy video which I did not send at all.

What happen was on Saturday, 14-May, I accepted a new friend add and click on her profile to check out her post. I noted this video appeared three times with a title written as :
” lmfoong, this is without doubt the sexiest video ever! :P :P :P

So, I click on it and it did not work, I even click on all the three video but still did not work. So, I left it as it is

Then in the evening, I receive another message from another FB friend and asked me NOT to click open this video as it will automatically ( I think ) send the same video to your contact list.

As the technology advanced, there are genius who are so creative to program such a “click and broadcast” technique whereby you click open a video, and it automatically forward the same video to everyone in your contact list. I hope it only forward to my contact list in Facebook which i have less than 200 names. If it goes to my gmail contact list, my god, I could not imaging la…

SO, beware, DO NOT Click on any video which carry a title like
” your name , follow by short invitation note or remark ”

Luckily the video is a very mild sexy scene and not those xxx video

Selection of Higher Education School in Malaysia

When we talk about quality, different people interpret the meaning differently depending on their background, what they have in mind and the environment or discussion topics they are involved.

When you are talking to a group of secondary school students who are looking for higher education either locally or abroad, it is not surprise that they refer quality pertaining to what they can get from their education provider such as college, university, fees, principal, lecturer, campus environment, type of student background etc etc..

You can see from this simple illustration, the definition of Quality is really unlimited and boundlessness. Well, you can argue that  Quality is defined as ….  in accordance to the dictionary or reference book etc. The fact is this group of student is the decision maker by which they decide what is quality to them in order for them to make a decision where to further their studies.

Often then not, most student has lack of reference or testimonial for them to make a goof evaluation of the higher learning school. They rely on advertisement, word of mouth and perhaps recommendation from Parents. If advertisement is used, how true are those “promises” put up in the advertisement is yet to be proven. On the other hand, the definition of some of the big word used such as “world class”, “leading” etc by the advertiser debatable.

I found this blogs EDUCATION IN MALAYSIA: World Class Universities? really open my eye on the claims of some college in their advertisement. So, as a parent, you need to be wiser when you read advertisement from higher education school.

My Blog is up and Lessons Learn

As you knew, I discovered on 23-April-2010 that my SWOT blog was down and upon query, it was reported that the server which host my blog caught fire. And the host company are not able to migrate my blog from their server immediately.

The reseller who sold me the hosting package has help to migrate my blog to another host with my blog backup. Unfortunately, my back up files did not have the post content in it. As such, I was not able to restore my blog posts but to write  new one. Then I started to make new post and retrieved as many post article from my harddisk ( WINDOW Live Writer ) in order to keep my blog ALIVE but the articles are limited.

Then on Saturday, my friend told me to get the article from google cache which I did I managed to recovered 90% articles from the cache. But I have another set of problem. During the initial set up of the blog, I set the permalink one method, and when I set up the new blog, I set it the new way and started to put up several new post.

Here is the problem with the google cache,. it stored the articles based on the set up then. Now, when I recover the post from google cache and rewrite it into the new blog, the permalink follows the new blog. But then, the google cache still using the old permalink … When google list my article, it is the OLD permalink, and it will give a 404 page when someone click on it.

After 1 full day work on 2-May, I managed to restore the post and overcome the google cache problem with the help of Bluehost technical staffs.

Thank God ! My SWOT Analysis Template is in full function again.

Lessons learn :

1)  Have more than one host company for your Internet Business to spread the risk.

2) Host from parent hosting company and not reseller

3) Always backup your blog and the database to your harddisk, server and email

4) Learn Recovery Procedure with WordPress Help resource

5) Get familiar with your own cPanel

6) Keep a copy of your blog post in your harddisk

7) Publish article to article directories so that you retain your knowledge

Do not think this is too much to do, better be prepared than sorry later. My opportunity lost was $4-5 a day from the downtime of this blog. What if you have multiple blog with this hosting company and you did not have an efficient recovery plan???
