Today, the 20th Day of October, 2009 was my last attendance in the Board meeting at my office. As usual, there is a time slot allocated for me to report any issue needed the attention of the board.
I seek permission from the chair to make an announcement of the retirement status. Some of the board members seems to be surprised by my announcement but pay attention to what I had to say.
I recalled my 15 years of service with the Group and pledge that I “LOVE HONG LEONG”. And I meant it because this is my longest employer in my 38 years of employment career. I still like what I was doing kin the Group and pledge to continue to serve the Group when called upon. Though my speech was a little emotional but I managed to put my message across.
I mentioned that I may not have the opportunity to see the progress of the TAG team and hope the team continue to progress and advanced themselves to a new height. However, I will pledge to offer any help or assistance if so desired “but may not be free” as I still have to look for consulting job for my post retirement lifestyle.
I pledge to take part in the just started Energy Management Program as it is a very meaningful initiatives not only to the business but also to the community. I disclosed to the board members my knowledge in Energy Management Program in my early employment back in the mid 80’s. I was involved in “Heat Recovery” concept for energy conservation and incidentally saw a company profile presentation that also indicated Equipment using the same “heat Recovery System”. What a coincidence !!!
Anyway, my last meeting at the Board is the last but my involvement in the Group will continued in months to come ……..
