Post Retirement Morning Golf

On Wednesday, 18th November 2009, I woke up at 6.30 am and get ready for my first morning golf on post-retirement. I left my house at about 7.25 am, the traffic iin front of Summit Complex at USJ 2 was quite easy given a working day. I managed to passed the traffic light junction within 5 minutes and drove toward KESAS Highway and head on to Kinara where I had my “tosai” and “telur mata lembu” and a cup of “teh ‘O’ limau panas for breakfast. By the time I finished my breakfast, it was almost 7.50am. I proceed to Bukit Jalil golf Club about 10 minutes away and registered myself for the morning golf.

For part of my post-retirement activities, Wednesday morning golf is in my plan as a form of networking as well as exercise. It is an exercise because it iwll be a 2 hours plus walking through the 9-hole golf game.

The style of playing was very relaxing, taking it easy with no rush. I guess it is the life style of morning golfer who take things free and easy. After all, there is no rush for these morning golfers who are most retirees. Among us, there was an ex-army official, Mr. Lim who is 65 years but he look tough physically. The other was Mr. Chuah who is also a retiree who own a trading business but left it to his son. Later there was this Mr. Teo who join our flight. He is about my age at 57. He spend much of his time talking to the phone, His Mandarin with Chinese’s essence.  His has business in China.

So much my attempt to get to know my flight mate in the golf course.  All four of us are about the same standard at around handicap of 20. But none of us got a par for any of the 9 holes. For Mr Lim and Mr. Chuah who are Wednesday and Friday morning golfers, seems to take the course real easy. For me, I follow their pace. The fairway was wet in most of the 9 holes which is expected with this course. The green was really in bad shape which had a layer of sand. I felt strong this way especially I had several rounds of golf game at Nexus Golf Resort, Karambunai which one of the best golf course in Malaysia.

Despite the condition of the golf course, I had a good round not for the golf game but the work out I experienced with 2.5 hours working around the golf course. Though I felt a little tire physically, my mind was very alert. I guess this is the benefit of having some form of workout.
